Hey guys! Alex M. here with a special May 4th Star Wars post (to give y’all a break from the Young Justice series). This post is filled with star wars fun facts. May the force guide and protect you as you set about your journey.

Fun Facts About Star Wars in General:

  1. George Lucas originally intended the story to start with episode one, two, three, etc… however, George did not expect a large box office income, so he started with episode four because he figured it would be the most successful
  2. The Jabba the Hut puppet in Return of the Jedi took six people to make him move
  3. It took a month to film the Jabba palace scene in Return of the Jedi
  4. Phil Tippet won Oscars for his work on Return of the Jedi and Jurrassic Park
  5. Harrison Ford broke his ankle on the set of The Force Awakens
  6. J.J. Abrams broke his back trying to resuce Harrison Ford from the door that broke his ankle
  7. Jabba the Hut was allegedly influenced by the catepillar in “Alice in Wonderland”
  8. Rogue One incorporated shots from the original films that were never used
  9. The Ewoks were originally going to be Wookies, but George Lucas decided Ewoks would be more cute
  10. We never actually hear Ewoks being refered to as Ewoks in the movies
  11. George Lucas hired children to dress up in the Ewok costumes
  12. Carrie Fisher handed water out to the kids dressed up in the Ewok costumes
  13. J.J. abrams used Cast-it talent to find the perfect Rey for The Force Awakens
  14. In the scene where Rey uses a Jedi mind trick to free herself from an interrogation chair,  the Storm Trooper who frees her is Daniel Craig
  15. Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen made lightsaber sounds that had to be fixed in post-production
  16. Darth means dark in Dutch and Vader sounds an aweful lot like the german word for father….
  17. George used the Sanskrit word for Warrior to name Yoda
  18. Jar Jar’s name was created by George Lucas’s son
  19. The actor that was originally catsed to play Darth Mal in the Phantom Menace dropped out because he didn’t like that he only had three lines in the entire movie
  20. The double ended light saber was a design that came from the comic book series Tales Of The Jedi: The Sith War
  21. The Return of the Jedi went under the filming name of Blue Harvest so that fans wouldn’t know where the shots were being taken
  22. The filming title for Episode 2 was, Jar Jar’s Big Adventure, and because no one knew who Jar Jar was, the title worked perfectly
  23. The Last Jedi went under the working title ‘Space Bears’
  24. Rogue One was called ‘Los Alamos’.
  25. Kylo Ren’s lightsaber is an ancient design, not a modification, according to Jedi Legend…
  26. The two hand-guards poking out of the side of Kylo’s light saber are known as quillions
  27. Steven Spielberg was George Lucas first choice to direct Return of the Jedi. However, the two had a falling out and so Richard Marquand filled the role
  28. Episode 3 has over 2,200 digital effects shots
  29. A New Hope had just 350 visual effects shots
  30. Episode 3  and Rogue One are the only Star Wars movies to not recieve an oscar nomination for visual effects
  31. There are no live action clones in Revenge of the Sith
  32. In The Force Awakens, the blasters fired by the First Order troopers were based on compressed air guns
  33. Lucas original idea for R2-D2 came after he saw Silent Running and its trio of drones
  34. The droid factory sequence in Episode 2 wasn’t in the film’s original script
  35. The Force Awakens was the first movie that didn’t feature original actor Kenny Baker as R2… although he is in the movie’s credits as an R2-D2 consultant.
  36. Kyber crystals are the rare components at the heart of a Jedi’s lightsaber, and aparently the Death Star
  37. George Lucas could not generate a CGI version of Tarkin in The Return of the Jedi, but Rogue One was able to resurect him.
  38. Yoda’s design was based on Albert Einstein
  39. The line, “I have a bad feeling about this” has been said in every Star Wars film to date.
  40. “May the Fourth be with you” was a pun that has turned into a global phenominon
