To kick off our challenge, I’m starting with a rather new Marvel TV show called AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
For those of your unfamiliar with the series…
(After the Battle of New York, the world has changed. It now knows not only about the Avengers, but also the powerful menaces that require those superheroes and more to face them. In response, Phil Coulson of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division assembles an elite covert team to find and deal with these threats wherever they are found. With a world rapidly becoming more bizarre and dangerous than ever before as the supervillains arise, these agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are ready to take them on.)
This show is on its third season, and has progressed a lot from season one. Along with introducing new characters, the overall feel of the show has changed.
While it started off focusing on S.H.I.E.L.D and in particular, the non hammer-whielding and super-powered team most prominently shown on the big screen, but the more human side of things.
At least, that was season one.
Season two began to really introduce this idea of enhanced humans, and what it would look like if there were agents who had special abilities. This also dealt with the problem of S.H.I.E.L.D. basically getting disintegrated due to the fact that HYDRA was infiltrating it, as is shown in Captain America:The Winter Soldier.
Season Three has probably been my favorite so far, as it seem stop be hitting that sweet spot where we get to see talented men and women doing what SHIELD does best–saving lives and stopping worldwide conspiracies while using ridiculous fighting skills–and also incorporating super-powered characters.
Now, AOS certainly has a different feel altogether from most of the comics-based tv shows we’re getting these days (Particularly on the CW). All the same, its holding its own in a unique way.
From interesting and witty characters…
To amazing special effects…
Plot lines that will make you pretty much react like this…
And somehow managing to incorporate ties in from ALL the Marvel movies to date, this show is pretty amazing.
And weird. Let’s just be honest, when we’re talking aliens and inhumans, it can get pretty weird.
While this show does have some more adult content at times, and a few battle scenes that could make you squirm, not making this an ideal family movie night, Marvel is still managing intrigue and delight. You might just want to give it a try. 🙂
I never really know whether I like it or not (I’m just bored of having the 1 person who is the solution to everything) but I keep watching lol.
Great sum-up, thanks for sharing it!

Hey there!
Yeah, I know what you mean about having that cliche “chosen one” character. I find that Agents have enough of a unique supporting cast that I can kind of overlook that theme. So yeah, I keep watching too. I’m glad you enjoyed the post! 🙂

I really need to catch up on my watching of AoS – I still haven’t finished s1 even though I have all of the eps stored up to watch. I feel like a bad Marvel fan.

Haha well life can get in the way of catching up on shows, sometimes. At least you’re all set to binge-watch when you get a chance, right? 🙂

I’m the biggest Marvel fan so I really should catch up with Agents of SHIELD. I’ve seen all of series one and two but have only seen the first episode of the third season. Fitz and Mack are my faves 🙂
I’m looking forward to seeing what other fandom-related posts you have during the challenge.
During the A-Z Challenge I’m blogging about my favourite characters over at ElenaSquareEyes.

I watched the first season, back when I had a TV. Mostly for Chloe Bennet though.

I’ve been binging on Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but I haven’t gotten around to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. or Agent Carter yet. I’d heard that AoS started off kinda slow, but it seems to have really picked up. And if they’ve got Inhumans and other weirdness on the show, I might just have to tune in!

Hey!
I’m kind of a huge Daredevil fan *high fives* but not sure yet if I can get into Jessica Jones (EVEN THOUGH IT HAS TENNANT!) just because of the more adult themes and scenes. That said, Agents is very different from either of the shows, but it still has that kind of gritty undertone–though not as finessed as DD, I’d say. Still, if you take it as what it is, you’ll probably really enjoy it! 🙂

For anybody who needs another primer about the show, try this. Given how the status quo is frequently rocked every season, I’d say it’s pretty good. And Skye/Daisy has grown on me.

Awesome job summing it up! I just recently started going through the whole MCU timeline and I’m excited to see how they tie these next few episodes into Civil War, I also can’t wait for the Spider-Man references!!

Oh, that’s so true! I’m so excited to start seeing tie-ins to Civil War too! Maybe We’ll even get Peter Parker popping into shield at some point? Like Lady Sif? He’s probably too high profile, but whatever 🙂 Thanks for commenting!
